oh i’ve been a terrible blogger lately! thank you, sincerely, for your patience! a special congratulations to jordan and maddy married in wayne, michigan earlier this spring! maddy is a lover of snow, so the day was perfect because we were hit with a heavy snowstorm that day :) this is an incredibly beautiful couple, and i hope you enjoy their photos as much as i do! rob & sue {howell, mi wedding}

my aunt sue and new uncle rob were married at the historical wedding chapel in downtown howell on a drizzling fall day. the ceremony was beautifully short and sweet, and was followed by a reception at a local country club. congratulations aunt sue and uncle rob! love you both, and god bless you in your marriage!

josh & caitlin {grand rapids, mi wedding}

you may recall josh and caitlin from their engagement photos with the pink scooter earlier this year! they were married on a beautiful fall day, the only sunny day that week as i recall! the ceremony took place downtown grand rapids at the berean baptist church, and not starting until 6pm, we had lots of time beforehand to photograph wedding party photos:) a reception at the bluff followed the lovely ceremony, and everyone danced the night away! i loved this wedding party and everyone involved – thank you for making me feel so welcome! i had to wipe my own tears more than one time throughout the day; everything was so beautiful! congratulations, josh and caitlin! the lord bless you in your marriage!

brandon & meredith {grand rapids, mi wedding}

i knew brandon and meredith’s wedding was going to be a blast from the first time i met with them back in june – and they lived up to it! a fun wedding party, stretch hummer limo and lots of family and friends added up to be a night to remember! brandon and meredith were married in a lutheran church downtown grand rapids, and the reception took place at the bluff conference center (also in grand rapids). god bless you two in your marriage! hope to see you again soon! :)

paul & denise {married september 18}

paul and denise are two very special people to me! denise is one of my best friend’s mother, and paul is the man that swept her off her feet a few years ago. they are simply perfect for each other; their love brings a smile to so many faces, and warmth to so many hearts – including my own! paul and denise were married on lake michigan at the home of dear friends at sunset. a candlelight reception immediately followed the ceremony, where everyone gathered around a wood fire for good times and great food. congrats paul and denise! god bless you in your marriage – love you both!

denise’s dress is vintage from the 1950s. she found it on a website, had it shipped from ireland, and it fit perfectly. you’re stunning, deni!

denise is a chef, and expresses her creativity through food. she created the menu for her special day, along with home-made sangria!

denise with her daughter, samantha. sam and i have been really close friends since middle school!

the guests were asked to write a wish for paul and denise on a note tied to each balloon, which would be released into the sky after the ceremony – a lovely idea!

joe & amber {married september 5}

joe and amber were married on september 5th at michigan state university’s horticultural gardens, and the reception took place in a green house! the weather was absolutely perfect – blue skies, sunshine, and a slight breeze. i had a great time at joe and amber’s wedding! hope to you see you all again sometime soon:)

chad & jenny {married september 4}

on a blustery september day, chad and jenny tied the knot at the st. mary’s church in charlevoix! you may remember this couple from early this year in their winter engagement photos (click here to view) at the charlevoix lighthouse pier. the reception took place at the emmet county fair grounds, and the wedding party was transported from place to place in a cute little trolly:) god bless you in your marriage, chad and jenny! it was certainly a pleasure working with you!

the above photo was taken before the ceremony; i just wanted to show how big the waves were that day!! they were still this wild when we came back to the pier for wedding party photos later that day!!

the second location was the exact spot where chad proposed to jenny! in decent weather you can actually see all of lake charlevoix!

stop #3 was at knot just a bar in bay harbor. washington apples around!

adam & betsey {married august 14, 2010}

remember adam and betsey from their engagement session a couple months ago? they tied the knot in kalamazoo on very warm august 14th! the ceremony took place in a really neat church cathedral, and the reception was held at the kalamazoo country club. the church was probably close to 100 degrees during the ceremony, but the building was so neat that it was definitely worth the heat!! everything about this wedding was beautiful, and i had a great time working with adam and betsey! god bless you two in your marriage!

adam & tarah carnahan {married july 10}

tarah and adam were married july 10th in plymouth, mi at the home of adam’s father and wife. the whole event took place in their backyard, and the weather was wonderful! tarah’s dream wedding came true as her countless ideas folded into place. because the day was so uniquely theirs, i asked tarah and adam to write a little blurb for this post…

All of the details of the wedding incorporated a home-spun feel while trying to maintain a shabby-chic look. Many of the flags were cut by friends and family reusing their old linens and then strung together by my wonderful bridesmaids. Instead of a guest book, guests were asked to write a “recipe for love” on cards made by Brooke, my sister, and I. I am going to pair their responses with pictures from them in the photobooth so that we have something fun and memorable to look back on. We obtained as many local items as we could to contribute to the sustainability of the local economy, getting produce and flowers from local farms, beer made by our friend Chase, wine from a vineyard near Adam’s mom’s house in Northern MI, cake made by Tarah’s friend Nicole who is in pastry school, the appetizers from our favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids, Marie Catrib’s, and we bought many plates and silverware that we can donate to a great organization in Grand Rapids that finds housing for families that are temporarily homeless.

Adam’s favorite part of the day : The ceremony and seeing Tarah walk down the aisle, which he said is the only time in his life where he was completely awe-struck :)

Tarah’s favorite part of the day: When our family prayed around us during the ceremony because I felt like we were so supported and loved as we were beginning this journey… the first kiss was pretty good too!

The goal of the day was to get married and that we did, but we also wanted our guests to feel relaxed and have fun in a unique, home-spun, shabby-chic backyard reception. We had so much fun seeing and catching up with old friends and so much fun on the dance floor. We didn’t want the night to end!

jacob and janay, the ring bearer and flower girl, are so stinkin’ cute! jacob is actually a cousin that tarah and i share! tarah’s uncle don is also my uncle don :)

Hour d’oeuvres were from Marie-Catribs: mother earth and homemade crackers, potato, veggie pancakes with cucumber yogurt sauce
Menu: Sun-dried-tomato pesto shish kabobs, bourbon glazed petite filets with onion frites, Israeli cous-cous, and local squash and zucchini
Desert: Shortcake bar- sugared biscuits with strawberries, peaches, or cinnamon apples with fresh whipped cream, and cookies made by tarah’s mother (the best i’ve ever had!!)

josh & hannah {married may 22}

hannah boss and josh barraw were married may 22 at the castle farms in charlevoix. their wedding was beautiful, and the wedding party was super fun! as my first wedding of the season, i couldn’t have asked for a better group to photograph. hannah was absolutely stunning, and josh was a very handsome groom! you are a great couple! can’t wait for our newlywed photo shoot later this summer! :)

sunday afternoon, tom and marit finalized their wedding vows in a small ceremony and reception in northern michigan. the ceremony took place in the rose garden at the perry hotel in petoskey, mi, overlooking lake michigan. typical cold and rainy october weather started the day, but the rain stopped and the clouds parted as tom and marit shared their vows with each other. a beautiful rainbow shined over the lake shortly after the ceremony ended (talk about good luck!). the reception took place at the cava restaurant of the village of bay harbor. what a beautiful couple! thank you for allowing me to be part of your special day!

rick & wendy zink {married july 17, 2009}

wendy wood and richard zink were married at camp petosega on friday, july 17th at sunset. a beautifully colored sky set the background of a casual ceremony on a little island. i had a wonderful time getting to know wendy and rick over the past couple days and enjoyed their beautiful wedding! i hope you love the pictures as much as i do! :)

abbie adams and chad hart were married on saturday, june 20th, on the beach by the charlevoix north pier. it was an intimate ceremony, with only close family and friends, with dinner at the weathervane restaurant immediately following. an open-house-type reception took place at their home, where all their friends gathered to celebrate this wonderful event! i had so much fun photographing you two! i appreciated your hospitality, and look forward to seeing you soon! :)
