my little niece sophie turned one on april 13th, so of course we had a to celebrate! my sister katie and brother-in-law paul threw a fantastic party. the last year with this baby has been so much fun! our lives are happier with her :) we love you sophie-cat!!

yesterday, a group of girls spent the day together celebrating the thirteenth birthday of hannah! what a fun-filled day! not only were we driven around grand rapids in a stretch escalade, but every place we went was somewhere i’ve never been! haha so i had just as much fun as the girls did :) i tagged along as both photographer and friend, and after hitting plenty of places, we headed back to the house to do hair and make up before the group went to dinner at the sundance grille in downtown grand rapids. happy birthday, hannah!

saturday was my 21st birthday! my best friends planned the whole event and kept me out of the loop for over three months! they took me shopping saturday morning and told me to shop for something country because we were going to go line dancing that night… okay… line dancing sounds fun! my sister kandis took me to dinner that night, and there was a full table of friends waiting for us when we arrived. i realized as the waitress was carrying out the birthday cake that there were four tickets sticking out of it! they were for the brad paisley concert for that night!! i was so surprised!! thank you for a wonderful birthday!! :)

brother to four, father to five, grandfather to twenty-four, and great grandfather to four, my grandpa dawson is one amazing man! today he turns seventy-nine, and the whole family gathered together last sunday to celebrate. we told stories, played kickball and volleyball, ate lots of wonderful food and recalled many memories spent with dawson and joan way. our childhoods were filled with love, fun, and lots of family! after dinner we headed downtown to listen to horton creek play at the bandshell. it was a beautiful evening! we are all so thankful for our grandpa dawson and grandma joan! love you gramps!

finally nineteen! my sister kandis and caitlin, high school friends, had a birthday last week! saturday night they all dressed up for a celebration dinner. even though their fancy heels sunk into the grass, we still had a great time :)
