Adalynn {Charlevoix, MI Birth Story}

Thank you to Tara Nichole Photography for these beautiful images! They mean more to me than I ever thought possible – not only was my husband deployed to Afghanistan for the birth and first 7 months of our first child’s life, but my sister Kari (wearing the purple sweater) was killed in a boating accident on January 24, 2015. These images of her with my daughter more special than I can even say!

Here is my birth story :)

“Adalynn was due on October 10, 2014. My sweet babe was too comfy in my belly and just wouldn’t come out! Thirteen days after her due date, I was admitted to start inducing labor. After six hours of treatment, no progress was made, and once the medicine stopped pumping, all the small contractions I was feeling completely went away. It was then that we had to make the tough decision to have Adalynn taken via cesarean the following morning.

The surgery was scheduled for noon on Thursday, October 24, 2014 – exactly two weeks after her due date. My husband was deployed during this time, so we were unable to talk much that morning. I walked back to the operating room around 12:30pm, and Adalynn’s first cry was heard at 12:47pm. C-sections are SCARY! But my older sister, Katie, was my birth partner and so comforting to have in the OR – especially because my husband could not be there. She brought Addie to the nursery where my mom, dad, and sister Kari cuddled her until I was out of recovery. It wasn’t until nearly two hours after her birth that I got my hands on her! Cyril and I were able to Skype so he could see our sweet baby.”

So thankful for these images, and highly recommend having birth photos taken! :)
